"Made Flesh" - Part 1

"He blinked his eyes blearily around the room whilst polishing his glasses on a handkerchief, a trait which I find extremely annoying in those with decrepit vision, since there is no point trying to look if one cannot see. As he did so, I noted his other failings: his lips were altogether too pink, somewhat flabby and moist (I detest a wet mouth); his skin was pocked with the record of a past disease and sallow, as if too much of his time was spent indoors. Most alarming of all was his hair: it was dark and there was too much of it, although not on top of his head which was completely free of its contamination, but on his face which it covered completely up to the lower eyelids, leaving his grotesque mouth floating in a dark space, like the painted-on jape of an American comedian. Together with his large, spectacularly-broken nose and his low brow, I felt justified in immediately exclaiming:

'Mein Gott, Krupke! Is there Jewish blood in your veins?'”
